Peter Dowling from his studio in Fort Meyers Florida, explores the forms and textures of Florida's tropical woods. From the simple bowl to the carved or sculpted vase he brings to life the hidden beauty of wood otherwise bound for the local trash dump. Ecologically sensitive he "salvages" each creation from the felled trees of construction sites, road widenings, yard trimmings and storm damaged areas.
Each work of art represents the artist's attempt to extract , preserve and display for all to see what would otherwise be lost forever. His membership in the American Association of Woodturners and the Gold Coast Woodturners links him to the rapidly expanding network of artists in the now accepted art-form of woodturning.
